Compact vacuum pumps are the most prevalent type of liquid ring vacuum pumps. Compact liquid ring vacuum pumps are designed to work with vacuum values up to 33 mbar_(abs) and flows between 30 m³/h and 300 m³/h. Compact vacuum pumps have an impeller installed directly onto the shaft of the motor. The material used is either cast iron or stainless.

These vacuum pumps are cooled by running water. For applications with strongly contaminated or aggressive media, a flow-through system is used where water flows through the vacuum pump. For other applications, water either fully or partially recirculates. Systems for full recirculation eliminate the need to continuously refill the liquid.
