Claw vacuum pumps are a type of oil-free air-cooled industrial vacuum pump. These vacuum pumps are suitable for permanent as well as non-continuous operation. They require very little maintenance and have low operating costs. The vacuum pumps are fitted with a damper at the exhaust to dampen the pulsing of output noise. Some vacuum pumps can also operate as compressors and be used in vacuum-pressure applications.

Operating principle of claw vacuum pumps

The claw vacuum pump is equipped with double claw shaped rotors. These rotors turn against each other in the stator with small tolerances; there is no contact between the rotors and between either rotor and the stator. They are synchronised via a precision gear. Air is extracted into the compression chamber, where the movement of the cogs in the suction port pushes it from the inlet to the exhaust.
