Diaphragm vacuum pumps are chemically resistant, dry-running vacuum pumps operating on the principle of lifting diaphragms made of PTFE. The vacuum pumps are specially developed for laboratory and chemical applications. The vacuum pumps achieve ultimate vacuum values from 75 to 1 mbar and maximum flow rates of up to 138 l/min. Uncontaminated pumping of gases by a vacuum pump that has parts in contact with Teflon media or with a Teflon treated surface.
We offer diaphragm vacuum pumps as stand-alone machines, which are labeled MP and MPC, MPC, MPC, X2, Gemini, or as pumping systems with controls, which are labeled Chemvac, Univacl, and a laboratory vacuum system (LVS). The vacuum pumps can be supplied in the ATEX version for pumping explosive gases.
How the diaphragm vacuum pumps work
The vacuum pumps work on the principle of an oscillating diaphragm. The movement of the diaphragm is generated by an eccentric piece mounted on the axis of the electric motor. The principle is similar to the piston vacuum pump, but the piston ring is replaced by a flexible diaphragm.

Use of laboratory diaphragm vacuum pumps in real life:
- Diaphragm vacuum pumps represent a solution for most laboratory applications. They are used in areas where dry oil-free vacuum is required. Thanks to their design, they can ensure continuous operation of any laboratory experiment.
- Diaphragm vacuum pumps are a suitable solution for vacuum filtration. They are used for sample preparation in microbiology and analytical chemistry processes.
- The vacuum pumps are resistant to aggressive solvents, acid vapors and chemical corrosion. They can also pump gases. They are therefore a suitable solution for degassing and rotary evaporation.
- The vacuum pumps can also serve as vacuum sources for laboratory vacuum furnaces and ovens. Furthermore, they are also applied to vacuum dryers where they are used for the vacuum drying process.
- Due to their characteristics, they are used as support vacuum pump for turbomolecular pumps. In vacuum systems, they are used to maintain vacuum.
- The vacuum pumps are designed for oil-free applications in the rough vacuum range.
