VAKUUM BOHEMIA offers sale of Roots vacuum pumps by Leybold, Busch, Rietschle, and Pedro Gil. Roots vacuum pumps are also sometimes called Roots blowers, auxiliary vacuum pumps or vacuum boosters. They are used to increase pumping speed and vacuum. One vacuum pump can be reinforced either by one or several auxiliary vacuum pumps. Roots vacuum pumps are combined with oil lubricated vacuum pumps, piston vacuum pumps, screw vacuum pumps, claw vacuum pumps and liquid ring vacuum pumps. Roots vacuum pumps are suitable for permanent operation and can be cooled either by air or water.

Operating principle of Roots vacuum pumps

Two kidney-shaped pistons rotate in opposite directions in the stator of a Roots vacuum pump. During their rotation, the pistons do not come into contact with each other or the stator. The vacuum pump is oil-free. Piston rotation is controlled by a pair of cogged wheels located in the gearbox at the end of the shaft. Oil is only present in the gearbox and is not in direct contact with the medium, hence the vacuum pump is considered oil-free. Certain vacuum pumps have a bypass allowing airflow to lower the pressure difference to an acceptable level.
