Vacuum pumps with ATEX certification need to be used whenever a vacuum pump could draw an explosive medium or the pump is located in an environment with the possible occurrence of an explosive atmosphere. ATEX is short for “Atmosphere Explosive” and is used to label equipment complying with directive 94/9/EC, which standardizes the requirements for machines intended for use in explosive environments. ATEX also covers non-electric equipment that is a potential ignition source.
We provide:
- sale and design of vacuum pumps with ATEX certificates
- supply of vacuum systems with ATEX certificates
- warranty and post-warranty vacuum pump servicing
Depending on the frequency and the duration of the explosive atmosphere, ATEX defines environmental zones (categories):
- Category 1: Permanent presence of explosive atmosphere
- Category 2: Explosive atmosphere is present occasionally under normal operation
- Category 3: The occurrence of an explosive atmosphere is not probable under normal operation
Other ATEX parameters include:
- type of media
- group
- subgroup
- temperature class
- required level of electrical protection
VAKUUM BOHEMIA offers a choice of ATEX compliant equipment across the entire range of our vacuum technologies. Possible ATEX categories for individual vacuum pumps are listed below. This data is only approximate. The selection of a suitable vacuum pump requires exact knowledge of the required ATEX parameters.
