Diffusion vacuum pumps are used to create high vacuum in industrial vacuum processing. They are commonly applied in metal plating, sputtering, steaming, research and development and nanotechnology applications. Because they contain no moving mechanical parts, diffusion oil vacuum pumps are very reliable and operate virtually without noise or vibrations.
Oil diffusion vacuum pumps are used to create high and ultra-high vacuum and they can reach a limit pressure of up to 5x10-7 mbar with extremely high pumping speeds. In addition to individual vacuum pumps, we also offer complete vacuum systems with oil diffusion vacuum pumps.
To use a diffusion vacuum pump, a vacuum pre-pump must be connected. Diffusion vacuum pumps operate without rotating parts. To achieve a high vacuum range (maximum pressure 5x10-7 mbar) they use an oil shower. The absence of parts susceptible to wear and tear results in the diffusion vacuum pumps having a long service life. The vacuum pumps boost a pumping speed of up to 210 l/s.
All oil diffusion vacuum pumps are complete, including a high vacuum valve, fitting, reverse valve and rough vacuum extraction valve.
The principle of diffusion oil vacuum pump
Diffusion oil vacuum pumps have no moving parts. The heated oil creates an umbrella in the vacuum pump. The gas molecules are pulled down by the fast-flowing liquid or steam. The achievable vacuum is limited by the saturated vapor pressure of the pumped oil.

- low consumption of cooling water
- no moving mechanical parts
- noise-free and vibrations-free operation
- extremely high pumping speeds
- manual valve control (for the PDM type) / electro-pneumatic valve control (for the PDP type)
