ChemStar® Dry was developed for laboratory operations that require high pumping speeds and deep vacuum, such as vacuum distributors (Schlenk line), lyophilizer, vacuum furnaces and vacuum glove rooms. The systems combine a booster vacuum pump with patented PTFE diaphragm technology that has a pumping speed (150 l/min) within the working range for most evaporation operations (2.0 to 0.1 mbar) and that reaches a maximum pressure of 10-2 mbar.

Key parameters of the ChemStar® Dry vacuum system:

  • Max. pumping speed at 50 Hz in m³/h (l/min) 8.4 (140)
  • Max. pumping speed at 60 Hz in m³/h (l/min) 10.1 (168)
  • Final pressure in mbar (Torr) without load: 7x10-2
  • Connecting the supply line: DN 25 KF
  • Exhaust connection: DN 25 KF
  • Sound level: 57 dB
  • Dimensions (length x depth x height): 460 x 220 x 470 mm
  • Weight: 23 Kg

Due to its oil-free characteristic, the system is the first practical alternative to rotary blade oil vacuum pumps, which are mostly used in such applications. There is no risk of damage to the pump due to a forgotten oil change in the oil vacuum pump. ChemStar® Dry is an oil-free system.

To ensure resistance to aggressive chemicals, all wetted parts are made of high-quality chemical materials including PTFE. Corrosive gases and vapors can be pumped out without risking oil contamination since the system is oil-free.

Thanks to the simple and quick software check, the system can be easily operated by new and inexperienced users. The software minimizes potential application errors due to improper use of the vacuum pump. In addition to this integrated self-cleaning function, it removes condensed steam upon shutdown, contributing to a consistent peak performance and extended product life.

The compact design of ChemStar® Dry allows its users to integrate the system into their laboratory furniture or even into a laboratory fume hood. With its input and output DN25 KF connection, ChemStar® Dry can be easily integrated into existing laboratory environments.

Use of the ChemStar® Dry vacuum systems in real life:

  • The system suitable for extreme chemical applications.
  • The system is usually a vacuum source for a vacuum gas line (Schlenk Line). Vacuum is used here to remove the last traces of solvents from the samples.
  • The system can be used in a freeze dryer for drying (lyophilization) of samples using a deep vacuum.
  • ChemStar® is also suitable for vacuum furnaces. Here it is used for extraction of discharged vapors and contaminated water steam.
  • The ChemStar® Dry vacuum system can provide the necessary atmosphere in laboratory vacuum boxes (Lab glow box).
